Cocktails with Scotty
Our 2024 cocktails calendar is an ode to a dear friend and local bartender. Through his help we made our 2024 cocktail calendar come to life (with significantly less work on my part than had I done all the cocktails alone - so huge thank you).
This calendar is also a celebration to his dirty thirty!
See what he had to say about his experience below.
In Scotty’s Words…
What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about prior to shooting this?
I was so nervous to not drop any of your very expensive equipment. I also wanted these drinks to be as professional of a level as the work. ALL your ducks were in a row, you have a child and still communicate so effectively with all the things you have going on. I think I lagged it on getting back to you at times but you were super chill about it, you communicated amazingly and responded accordingly.
What tips would you recommend for new clients on how to prepare for the session?
Make sure you communicate, time is valuable and the workload and professionalism put into everything you do is very respectable and commending. But really, everything comes out so well - trust in her process. Megan is extremally knowledgeable in her field and with turning her ideas to reality.
Did Megan and her team go above and beyond or could they use some advice?
Always above and beyond - Megan doesn't do less than great.
Is there anything else prospective clients should know? How was your experience during your session?
She runs a tight ship with schedules and deadlines, respect hers. Megan is super easy to work with and very understanding - if you need to practice your communication skills Megan is very reasonable person to do it with.
Also, she “cachows” and “Boom/Bam’s” A LOT when she’s taking selfies!
Let's fucking do it again!
About the bartender:
What persuaded you to get your portraits taken?
Bestie - We’ve known each other about 6 years now. I want to support you and the success in and of your business. Also the exposure, you made me feel cool and we vibe. I have enjoyed watching all the previous calendars you make. It was an easy decision.
Favorite thing to do on Saturday Night and Sunday Morning?
I'm always working. I love working the weekends seeing all the people come together and Sunday’s I enjoy breakfast at BBD.
Favorite Quote(s):
“Take care of shit before shit takes care of you.”
“Don't talk about it be about it.”
“When you're right, you're right.”
Something you love but can't do often ( darn adulting)
I wish I could play Soccer like I used to, I also enjoy getting the chance to decompress and relax even though I don’t do it often.
Why do you enjoy bartending?
I enjoy the community aspect in the bar.
The creation of community and for expression. I love when people can experience wow - joy - awe of the artistic expression in the drinks, and helping people come together on something as simple as a cocktail.
