“Connect to Tulsa”
I am so pleased to be able to tell you one of our images will be in the Tulsa International Airport from January 15, 2021 - January 14, 2022 in Concourse A waiting area.
This honor was bought to me by way of TYPROS, who’s mission is to make Tulsa an awesome city for young professionals to live, work and play - so you can see where the connection starts.
On Saturday, January 16, 2021 I participated in a small unveiling ceremony where I and eleven other artists artwork was unveiled to the city with the help of News on 6 and Fox 23 News and of course TYPROS own Andrea Pemberton.

I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet some of these other humans that were chosen out of 300 submissions along with some of the TYPROS voting panel and airport staff that helped make this possible.

Statement:
Dive into the diversity and appreciation of the Tulsa arts community scene by enjoying a performance from the award winning, original Folkloric Ballet dance company of Tulsa, Tierra Mestiza.
Founded in 2004, Rafael Espitia-Jasso (pictured) the director of the company, is always as passionate about dancing as he is teaching his students of all ages, races, genders, sexualities, and backgrounds the importance of understanding the heritage and origins of each dance.
The company dances in a variety of venues ranging from schools and libraries to performing arts halls and weddings. Wearing traditional costumes tailored in Mexico, the company explores various regions of the Southern Americas. Over the years and through the exploration of traditional ballet, this folkloric group has brought in a diverse range of ages, as young as four years old to sixty.
The passion of cultural understanding reigns. Ballet Folklorico Tierra Mestiza is a welcoming embodiment of how Tulsans, native or not, show their appreciation through our vibrant art community.
Artists favorite thing about Tulsa:
Tulsans respect the richness of their history, culture, and shared heritage. My favorite thing about Tulsa is its abundance of opportunity for people of all types.
So my friends, if you happen to be in the Tulsa International Airport over the next year - or heck just go take a look at how cool it is - make sure to put some of that handy dandy hand sanitizer on before and after interacting with the pieces. Ya know - for peace of mind.
